The Collection is a curated anthology of shops and restaurants a few steps from Metro Friendship Heights located on Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase, Maryland, along the border of Washington, D.C.- Maryland. Beginning in spring 2016, The Collection will undergo renovations to become the new dynamic focal point in Chevy Chase. Combining existing food and fashion destinations with a blend of new eco-shops and neighborhood cafes, The Collection's rebuilding plans include sweeping public spaces, active walkways, and lively displays. Metro connectivity will be improved and pedestrian and vehicle access will be improved.
The center was developed by private developer Chevy Chase Land Company, a company founded in 1890 by US Senator Francis G. Newlands, who acquired many properties in the D.C. In the 1950s, the first two shopping centers in the suburbs of Maryland were built. One of these shopping centers is Chevy Chase Center Stores, now known as The Collection.
