The Gainsborough Chase is a Hunt hunting hunt in Britain that is open to horses aged five or more. It runs in Sandown Park a distance of 3 miles (3 miles and 37 yards, or 4,862 meters) , and is scheduled to take place every year in late January or early February.
The race was first run in 1954 and in the sixties was won three times by Mill House.
The name Gainsborough Chase was dropped in 1991, when the race was named Agfa Diamond Chase, a Handicap Limited which holds Class 2 status. Agfa sponsors the race until 2007.
The last race brought the status of Grade 2 in 1997 and in recent years it has become a normal Class B defect (all valuable), currently sponsored by Betfred.
