David Michael Hasselhoff (born July 17, 1952), nicknamed "The Hoff ", is an American actor, singer, producer and entrepreneur, who sets the Guinness World Record as the most watched on TV. He first gained recognition at The Young and The Restless, playing Dr Snapper Foster. His career continued with his leading role as Michael Knight on Knight Rider and as L.A. Lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in the Baywatch series . Hasselhoff produced Baywatch from the 1990s to 2001 when the series ended with Hawaii Baywatch. On the screen, she appears in movies including Clicks , Dodgeball , SpongeBob SquarePants Movies, and Hop .

On April 21, 2006, David Hasselhoff fans launched the "Get Hasselhoff to Number 1" website in an attempt to get a 1989 hit "Seeking Freedom" to the top of the UK music charts via a single internet download.
