Andy Russell is a digital media, advertising technology, and innovator and pioneer of marketing technology. Over the past 17 years, Andy has invested in, incubating, or running more than 50 technology companies. He is the founder and CEO of Trigger Media, an operating company focused on launching digital technology business, advertising technology, and marketing of new digital computers. He is also Founder and Chairman of InsideHook, Host Committee, and Fevo. Russell is also a founding partner in private private company Bob Pittman, The Pilot Group. Andy Russell and the Empact Collaboration Platform partner with the Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Office to develop a collaborative platform for sustainable development goals and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Climate Change. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon called for the launch of this collaborative platform to the world in the opening session of the General Assembly in September 2016.

Andy created his first business at the age of 16. As a forerunner of social networking, the business generated considerable profits to enable Andy to pay his tuition at Cornell University where he received his BA in Abnormal Psychology. After graduating from Cornell in 1993, Andy joined Chemical Bank (JP Morgan Chase), as an investment banking analyst and later joined the acquisition finance group under the guidance of Jimmy Lee.
In 1996, Russell suspended enrollment at Kellogg University where he studied marketing and opted for entrepreneurial travel. At the age of 25, Russell founded the world-renowned MOOMBA, with investors such as Laurence Fishburne, Larry Gagosian, Oliver Stone, and Keith Barish. As soon as MOOMBA started operating, Russell enrolled at Columbia Business School. In 1999, Russell earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Columbia Business School. He simultaneously sells MOOMBA, making money for 28 investors.
From 1999-2003, Russell launched a digital media investment practice for East River Ventures.

In 2003, Russell became a founding partner in private equity firm Bob Pittman, the Pilot Group. Russell-invested companies, incubated or purchased include Daily Candy (purchased for $ 2.3M, sold for $ 125M), Thrillist (incubated and issued for 25x refund), Tasting Table (incubated), Idealbite (invested for majority control and exit in one year for a 5x refund), PureWow (incubated and sold to Gary Vaynerchuk), Zynga (first professional money, out for 100x back), Betaworks (first professional investor), Business Insider (first investor), Sailthru (first investor, is valued at $ 200M), RapLeaf and LiveRamp (first investor, out for $ 300M), SpongeCell (first investor), AdRoll (first investor at $ 6M, currently worth $ 500M), and Bounce Exchange (first investor, current worth $ 200 M).

In 2011, Russell founded Trigger Media, an operating company focused on launching a technological business of digital, social, advertising, and transformational or disturbing marketing technologies. Trigger Investors and advisers include Bob Pittman, Conde Nast/Advance Publications, former president of MySpace Jason Hirschhorn, Paul Tudor Jones of Tudor Investments, former CEO of Daily Candy Pete Sheinbaum, and Michael Kassan, former president of Media Worldwide Initiative and CEO of MediaLink (more recently it sells for $ 270MM), Ken Fox, co-founder of Internet Capital Group, and founder of OneKingsLane Ali Pincus,
Trigger Media launched InsideHook, email for older men, in 2011 and Host Committee in 2012. Russell is currently Founder and Chairman of InsideHook, Host Committee, and Fevo.
Empowered Collaboration Platform
Russell is Founder and CEO of the Empact Collaboration Platform and is supported by the Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to donate the SaaS platform to Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. Empact is also the engine behind AfricaConnekt.org, an online collaboration workplace for young African entrepreneurs looking for resources, guidance and funding to support their continuously focused startup. The initiative is housed within the larger Pan-African YouthConnect organization, launched in 2012 by Rwandan President Paul Kagame and now launched into 14 countries.
Russell is Chairman of NYC BUILD and Treat House. Russell sits on the DMA board (Data and Marketing Association), PureWow, Tasting Tables, Madison Square Boys and Girls Club, and Mt. Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Sinai. Russell is also on the Advisory Board for the New York Stem Cell Research Foundation.
