The DC101 Chile Cook-Off is an annual rock concert sponsored by Washington, D.C./Baltimore, Maryland radio station WWDC (FM). The proceeds from the concert, traditionally held in Washington, D.C. in mid to late May, donated to the National Capital Area chapter of the National Kidney Foundation. This name comes from the usual chili competition during the event. Unlike its name, some recent events do not actually offer chillies, although by 2013 the chili is offered in three different booths.

The main feature of this event is rock concert, although vendors and sponsors also set up a booth to form a temporary market.

In previous years, Cook-Off was often held at K St. junction. and Wisconsin Ave. in Georgetown neighborhood in Washington, D.C., but then moved to the intersection of St. 12 and Pennsylvania Ave. After 9/11, security concerns forced the event to move to a series of nearby locations over the next few years. Recently, Cook-Off was held at Center City Lot, formerly the location of the Washington Convention Center. In 2009, for the first time, Cook-Off was held at RFK Stadium.

Cook-Off Chile 2009 drew the biggest crowd in the history of the event, with 35,000 participants.

Music

The concert section features music from some modern rock action, all performing on a single stage set up in the RFK stadium parking lot. Formations for concerts are usually announced in late March or early April. In recent years, "Last Band Standing" competition has been held to select local groups to open events.

Several bands have performed at festivals for over a year, including Downtown, Bird Dog Wheeler, Child's Play, emmet swimming, Seven Mary Three, Sponge, Jimmie Chicken Shack, Finger Eleven, Mudd Pool, Carbon Leaf, Third Eye Blind, Buddha Rude , Switchfoot, Chevelle, Papa Roach, Cake, and Seether.

DC101 announces Kerfuffle for 2014 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion, but is not mentioned about Chile Cook-Off 2014. The DC101 Damage Date is May 3, around the time Cook-Off is usually held.
