Overview
The title of the event has a double meaning: it is also the first name of the main character, Chase Reddick (Mitchell Ryan), the special team leader of the Los Angeles Police Department who specializes in solving extraordinarily difficult or violent cases, and shows the event's emphasis on the chase determined and undercover supervision of hardened criminals. The unit, which is headquartered in an old fire house, relies primarily on alternative/secret means of transportation such as helicopters, motorcycles, specialty vans, taxis, four wheelers, sports and muscle cars, work trucks (vehicles from the Public Works Department, , tow truck and/or Postal Service and civil delivery service) and high-speed driving to catch the suspect.
For the first fourteen episodes, Reddick, a LAPD captain, was accompanied by K-9 Sergeant Sam MacCray (Wayne Maunder) and three young officers: Steve Baker (Michael Richardson), Norm Hamilton (Reid Smith) and Fred Sing (Brian Fong) ). In January 1974, Webb and Universal dropped all regular customers unless Ryan and Maunder supported a group of new officers: Frank Dawson (Albert Reed), Ed Rice (Gary Crosby, who often appeared on other Mark VII shows), and Tom Wilson (Craig Gardner ). Never seen, but "appears" in every episode is the actual LAPD dispatcher Shaaron Claridge, who has worked on Dragnet and Adam-12; according to the pilot script, he was assigned mainly to Chase.
The first NBC event is scheduled on Tuesday at 8 pm. East, opposite the hit series CBS Maude and Hawaii Five-O . Around the same time as the casting changes, the network moved Chase to Wednesday night at 8 pm. against Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour. Despite the recent decline in attractiveness and ratings (and upcoming divorces), Chase there is nothing better there and ends after a one-off season. Cannell will reuse the specialist team format in A-Team , which was created in conjunction with Frank Lupo a decade later. Robert A. Cinader, who also oversees Mark VII's Adam-12 and Emergency !, is Chase's executive producer. Maps Chase (1973 TV series)
