Colorado Film Society

The Colorado Film Society (CFS), a nonprofit umbrella organization, hosts the annual Film Festival. CFS is dedicated to maintaining and growing a vibrant film art community in Boulder and along the Front Range. The mission of CFS is to encourage and celebrate film art by creating a dynamic forum for artistic, social and cultural awareness in the community. CFS offers four programs throughout the year: (1) the Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF); (2) CFS Education Outreach Program; (3) CFS Community Resource Program; and (4) CFS Film Series.

2010

Closing Night of BIFF 2010 is a tribute to Alec Baldwin who includes a retrospective film of his work followed by a question and answer session hosted by BIFF Executive Producer Ron Bostwick.

Three weeks after the BIFF, Baldwin hosted the 2010 Academy Awards host co-host with his partner Steve Martin Complicated. Baldwin stars with Tina Fey at NBC's "30 Rock", Emmy winner for the Extraordinary Comedy Series for the past three years. He received three SAG Awards, two Golden Globes, Television Criticism Awards, and two Emmies for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

2011

In accordance with its commitment to bring independent films to a wider audience, the Festival forms the Youth Advisory Council (YAC). The council was founded in 2008 and consists of 12-15 local movie fans in grades 8-12. The council represents the youth vote at the Festival and helps select movies for student film programs, student film category juries and helps organize and promote film opportunities for students in Boulder County.

In addition to the Youth Advisory Board, the BIFF organized several 'World Cinema Days' throughout the school year. Their goal is to get students involved meaningfully by filtering out wise students, appropriate documentaries, movies and animations during unstructured days such as "professional development" or "in-service days" teachers. And to help parents organize activities for their children on non-school days. Features free movie programs, group presentations and discussions for students in grades 4 through 12.

BIFF also works with Boulder Public Library to offer Boulder audiences free movies through the 'Spotlight on BIFF' series at the Boulder Public Library Film Program in September, October and November. Highlights include ten "Best of the Fest" movies and are free for students and the public.
