The BahÃÆ'á'ÃÆ's Under The Provisions of the Covenant is a small sect of BahÃÆ'á'ÃÆ' founded by Leland Jensen in the early 1970s. The BUPC claims focus on disputes in leadership after the death of Shoghi Effendi in 1957, and the ensuing strife among Mason Remey's followers. As a follower of Remey, Jensen believed that the majority of BahÃÆ'á'ÃÆ's were deceived, and he tried a new government shunned by the majority of BahÃÆ'á'ÃÆ's. Jensen also made special predictions for disasters around the world, including a specific date in 1980 for apocalypse, in which followers were observed by researchers as studies in cognitive dissonance.
Researchers from the University of Montana who observed the group in various studies for 16 years noted that from 1980 to 1996 membership fluctuated, but may never exceed 200 national. Its adherents are mostly concentrated in Missoula, Montana, with groups in Wyoming, Arkansas, Minnesota, Colorado, and Wisconsin. The group consisted of about 150 people by 1980, but decreased significantly in size following unconfirmed prophecy, with almost everyone believing outside Montana eventually rejecting Jensen's teachings. In 1990 the researchers claimed BUPC may have fewer than 100 members. With the disappearance of acceleration in the 1990s, they noted that in 1994 the membership phone list showed 66 members in Missoula, Montana, and less than 20 in other states. A split over the group's leadership in 2001 resulted in other defections and unresolved court battles to control the funds. Researchers documenting religious groups in Montana in 2003 recorded a community of 30 members at the headquarters of Missoula, Montana.

Confidence
The BUPC adheres to all the writings of central figures BahaáI Faith: BÃÆ'áb, BahÃÆ'á'u'llÃÆ'áh, and `Abdu'l-BahÃÆ'á, as well as Shoghi Effendi. The religious difference between BUPC and BahÃÆ'á'ÃÆ' Faith essentially exceeds leadership, although some of the teachings introduced by Jensen are very different, which is not accepted by the wider Baha'i community.
Unique for BUPC, Jensen teaches that the institution of trust is a continuation of the lineage of David, which he claims Bahá'u'llÃÆ'áh continues to his son, who in turn resumed the lineage to the trusting institution.
Trusts
Charles Mason Remey, one of Shoghi Effendi's Hands of Cause, declared himself the successor of Shoghi Effendi in 1960. His claim was rejected by his fellow Hands, arguing that he was not a descendant of BahÃÆ'á'u'llÃÆ'áh, nor Aghsan, nor did he have a clear promise to such a position by Shoghi Effendi. Remey based his claim on himself as president of the International Bahha Council appointed by Shoghi Effendi in 1951. The result was that Remey and every follower were unanimously expelled from the BahÃÆ'á'à komunitas community by the Hands of the Cause. The Universal House of Justice then announced that they could not appoint or enact laws to allow for the appointment of a second Guardian to replace Shoghi Effendi. Jensen is one of the BahÃÆ'á'ÃÆ's who receives Remey to become the 2nd Guardian, and to reconcile the requirement that the Guardians become Aghsan he believes Remey has been adopted by `Abdu'l-BahÃÆ'á, and further that the adopted son of Remey Pepe is the third Guardian , one point rejected by Pepe.

Leland Jensen
In 1963 Mason Remey founded the National Assembly in the United States, which was dissolved in 1966. Leland Jensen was one of the elected members in 1963, and in 1964 he left the group during a dispute between members and moved to Missoula, Montana. In 1969 he was convicted of "lewd and lewd acts" to sexually harass a 15-year-old female patient, and underwent four years of twenty years in Montana State Prison.
It was in prison that Jensen claimed to have revelation, and converted several dozen inmates into his idea as the "Founder" of BahÃÆ'á'ÃÆ' Faith, derived from his belief that the religious administration had been corrupted, and that he was chosen by God to re-establish government.
Disconfirmed prophecies
Jensen began teaching as early as 1971 that in 1980 the world would be cleared of crime by nuclear holocaust. Jensen received national attention when, on 26 April 1980, he led a group of followers to the shelter of the fall, expecting an apocalyptic nuclear catastrophe. He went on to predict that Halley's Comet will enter Earth's orbit on April 29, 1986, and collide with Earth exactly one year later.
With the approval of Jensen, in the early 1990s his counterpart Neal Chase made a total of 18 predictions relating to a small-scale disaster that he claimed would lead step by step towards the Apocalypse, as well as the date for a nuclear strike in New York. Cities by Middle Eastern terrorists. Balch notes that Chase responded to 18 unconfirmed prophecies with a number of "face-saving strategies", including drawing distinctions between prediction and prophecy, claiming miscalculations, reprieve, and testing of faith. Chase later stated "We made no mistakes," and that they have a "100 percent track record!"
Leadership disputes
sIBC and Joseph Pepe
In 1991, Jensen appointed 12 members to the second International Bah Dewan Board (sIBC) modeled on the International Council of BahÃÆ'á'ÃÆ' founded by Shoghi Effendi, and Jensen enrolled it in 1993 as a non-profit corporation in Montana. He wants him to evolve into the Universal Judiciary Building elected with the Guardian as his president. Trust Joseph Pepe is a Guardian, Jensen invites him to become council president, but Pepe firmly denies being a Guardian and is not involved with the group.
Neal Chase
Joseph Pepe died in 1994, leaving no clear candidate for leadership after Jensen's own death in 1996, and there is no way to appoint new members to the council. Skisma Jensen from the mainstream of BahÃÆ'á'ÃÆ' Faith is based on the belief that religion requires a line of designated descendants, and Jensen's elected candidate for the role is Pepe, who refuses to engage with the Jensen sect.
After Pepe died in 1994, Jensen begins to imply that Neal Chase is probably the next Guardian. Years later, justifying his claim to leadership, Neal Chase claimed to have been secretly adopted by Pepe.
In 2001, a prolonged dispute over Guardian identity split the group into a schism when Chase claimed the role in 2001. The council treasurer responded by declaring Neal Chase a Placer, and Chase later claimed that it failed to recognize him as a Guardian amounting to a breach of agreement.
The majority of the SIBC members filed a complaint on 26 April 2002, seeking an injunctive relief order against Chase, including interest fees and lawyers; and orders forbidding Chase to represent the council. Chase filed a motion to be sacked on July 15, 2003, arguing that a judicial settlement would require a court to interpret religious doctrine. The motion was granted on September 29, 2003. The case was filed with the Supreme Court of Montana in 2004, and a decision came February 15, 2005,
"Chase argues that the Trust, a religious office, lures him to the post of president of a secular company, and that it is by holding the latter that he is entitled to control the property of the enterprise.Presidency thus functions in this regard as the temporal nexus between the worlds of faith, represented by the Guardianship , and the secular world, where law defines relationships between people, companies or others, and property. "
"This dispute revolves around two basic issues: the composition of the Council, and the power of the presidency in relation to the property of the church... The District Court has no good authority to curate a replacement for any religious office, or to cancel If any of these two problems can be solved for the purely secular, the District Court may apply the company's laws, property and laws in deciding the Council's conversion benefits and any other claims against Chase. "
This case is submitted to the lower court for further processing.
Dispute a domain name via UHJ.net
On 24 February 2005, the National Spiritual Assembly (NSA) of BahÃÆ'á'ÃÆ's of the United States filed a complaint with the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the World Intellectual against Neal Chase for his use of the domain name UHJ.net, which claims to be the "Official website of House Universal Justice "- a name that NSA has a federal trademark registration United States, issued in 1965.
