Founding
Founders Bayan Towfiq, Jordan Levy, and Sean Hsieh met while studying computer science at University of California, Irvine. It was during this time that Towfiq, who was also working as a telecom consultant, uncovered major vulnerabilities in open-source telecommunication software.
After college, Towfiq and Levy began working on Flowroute, with Hsieh joining a few months later. The company was bootstrapped, having raised no angel or venture capital investment. Towfiq and Levy often slept on friends' couches and relied on family for food. Recounting the experience, Towfiq said, "Nine or ten months passed before we had a prototype of Flowroute and had our first customers."
